To Anyone Listening

Project description: “To Anyone Listening” depicts the feeling of not having anyone there to listen, even when you need someone the most. Carving into the tree was a symbol of the last straw, “I have nobody left and nothing left to give so I just am going to carve into this tree to hope someone will see me drowning in my thoughts”.

When doing the photoshoot, I thought of the saying: “If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound?” This lead me to: “If a girl cries in the forest will anyone hear?” I believe this is a strong saying because there are so many people in society trying everything they can to get help but they are stuck in a forest of fake news, technology, and social media shielding our reality.

This project was featured in the 2019 Dear Diary show at University of Michigan-Flint.
